Christine Haslett is an experienced international school leader with a strong track record in both day and boarding school environments. She has held senior leadership roles across schools in the UK, China, and Indonesia, and brings particular expertise in founding and developing new school communities.

Her career has included leading schools through important stages of growth and transition, with a consistent focus on building strong culture, nurturing holistic student development, and creating values-led environments. She is recognised for combining strategic leadership with pastoral care, community engagement, and academic excellence.

Christine Haslett brings proven founding school leadership, with direct experience of opening new international schools and building warm, values-led communities that give families confidence from the outset.

As she takes up the role of founding head of school at Wellington College Lagos, she brings the experience, vision, and steady leadership needed to establish a school community rooted in Wellington’s values and to build strong relationships with families from day one.

Adam joins Wellington College International Lagos as Director of Pastoral Care, bringing 25 years of experience in education and a particular expertise in pastoral leadership. Having begun his career teaching design and technology, Adam moved into pastoral care as a housemaster before progressing to deputy head and, ultimately, whole-school pastoral leadership. He was part of the founding team at Wellington College’s first international school in Tianjin in 2011, before moving to Shanghai as part of the College’s start-up team in 2013. After a period at Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, Adam returns to the Wellington College family — with Lagos marking his fourth start-up school, and with a wealth of experience in building systems, culture and community from the ground up.

Adam studied Industrial Design (BA) at the University of Central Lancashire, before undertaking his PGCE in Design and Technology at the University of Manchester. More recently, in 2024, he completed an MSc in Psychology at the University of Northumbria. In addition to his academic qualifications, Adam is a trained coach, NPQ facilitator, and both a football and cricket coach.

Adam is an over-enthusiastic, under-skilled sportsman. As a young man he played football at regional level and continues to play regularly today. He is a similarly capable(ish) cyclist and the very definition of the all-the-gear, no-idea mantra. He and his wife, Rachel, have enjoyed cycling for many years in Europe and across Asia, and look forward to exploring Lagos, Nigeria and, hopefully, Africa by the same means. Beyond sport, Adam loves music and reading, not least as a touchstone to learn about a new culture. He is exploring the world of Afrobeat (and Afrobeats, and Afro-Fusion!) with gusto and has already found a brilliant music and book shop in Ikoyi to help build his knowledge (and record collection!).

Rachel Chadwick is the Director of Admissions and Operations at Wellington College International Lagos. She brings more than 15 years of experience in the education sector, with a particular focus on admissions, operations and school development.

Before joining Wellington Lagos, Rachel spent over a decade with Wellington College Education (China), where she was part of the leadership team at Wellington College International Shanghai. There, she held responsibility for admissions and operations while supporting Wellington's growing family of schools across China. Rachel is passionate about building school communities and particularly enjoys the challenge of establishing new schools—creating the teams, systems and culture that allow them to thrive.

After completing her studies at the University of Leeds, Rachel began her career as a lawyer, working for 10 years in corporate mergers and acquisitions in the UK and Middle East. Her move into international education brought together her commercial and operational experience with a longstanding interest in people, schools and community building. Having lived and worked across the UK, UAE, China, Malaysia and now Nigeria, Rachel brings an international perspective and extensive experience of working with families and colleagues from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Originally from the UK, Rachel has spent much of her adult life living and working internationally and is delighted to now call Lagos home. She is married to Adam Shaw, who is also part of the school's founding team, and together they are enjoying discovering Nigeria. Outside school, Rachel loves travelling, good food, exploring new places and spending time with family and friends.
